Joel Klemp: President
Joel has a BA in History from Concordia College and over 30 years of field experience as a landscape foreman with Gardeneer Inc, where he set the high standard of quality for the company. He directly oversees the production and maintenance side of the company.
Josh Kloos: Vice President – Foreman
Josh has been in the landscape business since attending the University of WI – Stout. He comes from a landscape family background which has served him well. His father and grandfather owned a sod farm in the metro area since the early 1960s. From this he has the natural ability to lead and provide field management to ensure that his projects are done on time and with professional craftsmanship. Josh is strong in hardscape construction and has either been the foreman or the supervisor on Gardeneer’s largest projects. He is a MnDOT Certified Landscape Specialist and has certifications from ICPI and NCMA.
Mary Kay Johnson: CFO / Office Manager
Mary Kay has over 30 years experience in the construction/landscape industry. She started working at her father’s construction company while attending the U of MN. She has been with Gardeneer since 1992. Mary Kay handles a diversity of responsibilities in the office including the accounting and insurance.
Scott Shanesy: Project Manager
Scott has a BS in Economics from the U of MN and over 30 years experience in the landscaping industry. Scott was the landscape/irrigation project manager on many high profile projects in the Twin Cities including TCF Bank Stadium and Target Field. He holds many industry related licenses and certifications which include:

Certified Landscape Professional (MNLA)
Certified Irrigation Contractor (Irrigation Assoc)
Certified Irrigation Auditor (Irrigation Assoc)

Ellee Rasmussen: Landscape Designer / Project Manager
Ellee graduated from the U of MN – Twin Cities in 2002 with a degree in Environmental Horticulture & Landscape Design. In 2009 she became a MNLA Certified Landscape Professional. Ellee joined Gardeneer in 2012 and is experienced in creating all types of custom outdoor environments, such as patios, walls, kitchens, firepits, ponds and gardens.
Danny Zuelke: Landscape Foreman
Danny has a degree in law enforcement from Ridgewater Community College. He previously worked for Gardeneer in 1999 as a landscape laborer and has returned as a landscape foreman. Danny previously worked doing commercial concrete restoration and 8 years doing commercial landscaping and tree management on a tree farm. For 10 years Danny has been an assistant wrestling coach at Prior Lake High School.
Andrew Herzog: Landscape Foreman
Andrew graduated from North Dakota State Univeristy with a BS in Landscape Architecture and a BS in Environmental Design as well as a Minor in Horticulture. He displays a high level of craftmanship and attention to detail in the projects he executes and is ICPI certified.
Al Hipps: (1949-2014)
Al passed away on July 23, 2014. Al was a Registered Landscape Architect and a partner in the firm. Al will be sorely missed by all of us at Gardeneer and we are certain by also the many people he had touched in his long career. He was truly a unique individual whose talent and sense of humor made him such a pleasure to work with. Al prized all his clients but was especially proud to design landscapes for the second and even third generation of his original clients.
Michael P. Sobraske (1952-2009)
Mike passed away on July 4, 2009. Mike was president and a partner in the firm. Mike was a friend to many and was well-respected by those in the industry who knew him. His high degree of customer service was second to none! His financial management skills and strong ability to manage people will be missed. However, his vision and long-term goals for the organization will be carried forward with commitment by his surviving partners. We will all miss Michael dearly and are determined to continue a company that he would be proud of today!
